Our mission
Texas Cannabis Ledger is an independent public-data research project created and maintained by Nicholas French. It connects Texas cannabis records and official resources so people can inspect what is reported for their county, follow original sources and understand what remains unknown. It is not a news organization, government agency or professional licensing authority.
Our position
Texas Cannabis Ledger believes that no person should be incarcerated solely for personal cannabis use. We support common-sense, evidence-informed cannabis legislation that prioritizes public safety, individual liberty, proportionality, and transparency.
We are politically independent. We do not endorse political candidates or political parties. Our reporting, research, and public-data publications are not endorsements of any candidate, party, government agency, business, or organization.
Our policy perspective does not determine which facts we publish. We strive to accurately represent the public records and documented evidence available to us, including information that may challenge our own views.
How that shapes the Ledger
We publish source-attributed records, explain calculations, label missing information and make downloadable data available. Our views do not justify inventing local policies, overstating coverage, treating arrests as guilt or turning a directory listing into an endorsement.

How the project is supported
Merchandise sales and voluntary contributions help support TCL. Future clearly disclosed directory advertising must remain separate from county research and free listing inclusion. Support does not purchase a research finding or political endorsement.
